The missing turtle Manuela disappeared in 1982, after her family searched so hard for her but they never find her. The red-footed tortoise Manuela was missed 30 years ago. Her family The Almeida from Brazil, found her after 30 years hidden in a box in a room after all this time!

After their father died, the kids started cleaning the storage room. They discovered a lot of objects and surprisingly found Manuela the missing turtle alive in a box. It was a shock to the Almeida family as 30 years is a very huge period!

Younger Almeida said: “I put the box on the pavement for the rubbish men to collect, and a neighbor said, ‘you’re not throwing out the turtle as well are you?’” “I looked and saw her. At that moment, I turned white, I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing,” she added.

Turtles can endure long time with no food, just like snakes. They can suspend themselves from animation and decrease their body temperature and do other physiological to survive. But 30 years unprecedented!

The veterinarian Jeferson Peres stated that it’s possible for the red-footed tortoise to survive from 2 to 3 years without eating, but 30 years is a new record! He suggests that Manuela survived by eating termites and licking condensation
