It’s not just us, humans, who suffer from winter’s freezing weather. Our pets feel the same cold as well. So, it’s important to know how cold weather affects animals. This veterinarian, Dr. Ernie Ward, spent a night in a doghouse in winter and decided to increase safe living conditions for dogs, especially in winter.

Dr. Ward got very frustrated by the number of people who are thinking that a doghouse and blankets are enough to keep dogs warm during freezing cold weather.

He made this campaign to prove his point that being inside a doghouse is not enough for dogs to be warm. As a result, pet owners know how their animals suffer and stop letting them alone outside.

Dr. Ward was wearing so many layers of clothes, he prepared himself well for the day he will spend there. However, he couldn’t manage to stay for more than 4 hours! Put in mind that dogs don’t even have these layers of clothes.

You can see in the video how the temperature is decreasing every hour and how the weather is getting freezing colder. Dr. Ward was really shocked by the experience.

Once he entered the doghouse, he started shivering uncontrollably. And after 4 hours, the temperature was 15F. So, dr Ward couldn’t stay any longer.

This experience made him stick to his belief even stricter that all pets must be inside the house in winter. As he said, no animal deserves to be suffering like that!

He was also very adamant that people should always report homeless animals to the authorities in order for them to be rescued and taken to a shelter.
